Terms of Service
Last updated: 17 April 2026
Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using TutorLook. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use TutorLook.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using TutorLook (tutorlook.online), you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or a parent/guardian acting on behalf of a minor), that you have read and understood these Terms, and that you agree to be bound by them. These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and TutorLook.
2. What TutorLook Is (and Is Not)
TutorLook is a marketplace platform. We connect families looking for private tutors with tutors offering their services in Perth, Western Australia.
TutorLook is not:
- An employer of tutors. Tutors are independent contractors or sole traders, not employees or agents of TutorLook.
- A party to any tutoring agreement. Any arrangement made between a family and a tutor is entirely between those two parties.
- Responsible for the quality, accuracy, or outcome of any tutoring sessions.
We provide the platform and tools to help both parties connect. What happens after that is up to them.
3. User Responsibilities
All users agree to:
- Provide accurate, truthful information when creating an account or profile.
- Keep login credentials secure and not share accounts.
- Use the platform in good faith and not for any unlawful, deceptive, or harmful purpose.
- Respect other users — harassing, threatening, or abusive behaviour will result in account suspension.
Parents and families additionally agree to:
- Take responsibility for verifying that a tutor is suitable before engaging them.
- Conduct reasonable due diligence, including checking tutor references, qualifications, and Working with Children status where relevant.
Tutors additionally agree to:
- Hold any qualifications, registrations, or working-with-children clearances they claim on their profile.
- Comply with all applicable laws when providing tutoring services.
- Not solicit parents or students to move off-platform in a way that is intended to deceive or defraud.
4. Tutor Listings
Tutors are responsible for the accuracy of their own profiles. TutorLook does not independently verify qualifications, experience, or credentials listed on tutor profiles.
TutorLook reserves the right to remove or suspend any listing that violates these Terms, contains false or misleading information, or is reported by users as harmful or inappropriate.
5. Payments and Commission
TutorLook charges 0% commission. Tutors keep 100% of the fees they charge. TutorLook does not process payments between tutors and families — all payment arrangements are made directly between the tutor and the family.
Tutors are solely responsible for setting their own rates, invoicing, and managing their own tax obligations (including GST if applicable) under Australian law.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You must not use TutorLook to:
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
- Impersonate another person or organisation.
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse other users.
- Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the platform without written permission.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts or systems.
- Post spam, unsolicited advertisements, or off-topic content.
- Engage in any activity that violates Australian law.
Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination at TutorLook's discretion.
7. User Content and Licence
Users may leave reviews and send messages through the platform. Reviews must be honest and relate to genuine experiences. TutorLook reserves the right to remove reviews that are false, defamatory, or otherwise in breach of these Terms.
By submitting any content to TutorLook — including tutor profiles, subject listings, hourly rates, availability, qualifications, reviews, search queries, and platform interactions — you grant TutorLook a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide licence to:
- Display that content on the platform for the purposes of connecting tutors and families.
- Use, reproduce, process, and analyse that content in anonymised and aggregated form for research, analytics, platform improvement, benchmarking, and the generation of educational market insights.
- Share anonymised, aggregated derivatives of that content with third parties as described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
This licence for anonymised and aggregated use survives account deletion. It does not permit TutorLook to publish or share your personal information — it applies only to de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you as an individual.
8. Platform Data, Analytics, and Research
TutorLook collects and analyses aggregated, anonymised data generated by users of the platform to develop insights about the education market. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Subject demand data: which subjects and education levels are most searched for and requested, by geographic area and time period.
- Tutor supply data: the availability, qualifications, experience levels, and geographic distribution of tutors across different subjects.
- Pricing and market data: aggregated tutoring rates by subject, level, and location, and how these change over time.
- Engagement and behavioural data: how users search, view profiles, send messages, and interact with the platform — in aggregate, never individually identified.
- Review and sentiment data: star ratings and written feedback analysed in aggregate to understand educational outcomes and satisfaction patterns.
- Geographic education data: patterns of supply and demand mapped by suburb, region, and demographic indicators.
All such analysis is conducted on de-identified, aggregated data. No individual user can be identified from TutorLook's analytical outputs.
9. Research Partnerships and Data Sharing
TutorLook may collaborate with and share anonymised, aggregated data with:
- Educational institutions, universities, and academic researchers studying tutoring markets, educational inequality, or subject demand.
- Government agencies and education departments for the purposes of policy development, curriculum planning, or teacher workforce analysis.
- Commercial partners — such as educational publishers, EdTech companies, or workforce analytics firms — for the development of education market intelligence products and services.
Any data shared with third parties will be:
- Aggregated across multiple users so that no individual can be identified.
- De-identified in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Australian Privacy Principles.
- Subject to contractual obligations that prohibit the third party from attempting to re-identify individuals.
TutorLook does not sell personal information. Any commercial data activity involves only anonymised, aggregated insights.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Australian law, TutorLook is not liable for:
- The conduct of any tutor or parent on or off the platform.
- The quality or outcome of any tutoring sessions.
- Any loss or damage arising from your reliance on information in tutor profiles.
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be legally excluded.
11. Account Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. TutorLook reserves the right to suspend or permanently close any account that violates these Terms, without prior notice where necessary to protect the safety of users or the integrity of the platform. Anonymised, aggregated data derived from your use of the platform may be retained after account deletion as described in Section 8.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of TutorLook after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of TutorLook shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia.
